Woodford Heating and Energy
Galaxy House in Croydon is a mixed-use development (residential apartments and energy centre) formed of four blocks which are interconnected to create the impression of two main structures.
Our objective was to provide a cost effective solution to control the Fan Coil Units within the residential apartments.
Cura Energy were involved at a very early stage with this project which required the provision of local Fan Coil Unit controls with each apartment. The Fan Coil Units had both heating and cooling coils fed from a central CHW/LTHW plant via HIU/CIU within each apartment.
We worked with the Client and design team to propose and specify the local room controllers which not only provided a cost saving for the Client but reduced the installation time on site. Another added benefit was the user-friendly nature of the room controller which simplified the end users control of their apartment temperatures.
The proposed Siemens Room Controller was successfully trialled and witnessed in a demonstration apartment on site before being approved. We supplied, installed and commissioned 800+ room controllers in over 300 separate apartments over an eight-month period.
Our Technical Support Team pre-set all the Room Controllers off site prior to installation on site to minimise on commissioning time which in turn improved project delivery timescales.
Our involvement from the initial design stage with the Client resulted in the development of a robust control strategy for each apartment.
Early collaboration resulted in a cost saving to the Client and improved efficiencies on project installation and commissioning services.
