BBC Broadcast Centre
The BBC wanted a new and innovative way of displaying energy usage data as a staff engagement tool. The data had to be presented in a visually contemporary way in a central staff location. We knew that the building had some existing sub metering but this data was not viewed or utilised in any way.
By analysing the client’s brief we project managed the installation of an Energy Dashboard for the building which showed energy data across four floors of the building. Our project team prepared the design and programme information after liaising with the end user client for installation due to the sensitive nature of the building.
Our site installation team were briefed on the entire project and installation process, including Health and Safety.
The site engineers attended the site-specific inductions particular to the building to ensure all the correct processes were carried out in conjunction with our own Health and Safety Procedures.
Once the energy loggers had been installed in the building utilising the existing meters, the data was transmitted to a central web server for display on the energy dashboard. The data was then validated and tested prior to release to the client. The client was kept informed throughout the project programme with regular programme and progress updates.
The site installation and data harvesting were carried out on time and within budget. The dashboard was successfully witnessed by the client and demonstrated to the site end users to explain its specific user interfaces to get the maximum benefit from the dashboard.
